Basic Advocacy Training

WHO: Are you a new advocate, SANE nurse, counselor, or volunteer who provides direct services to victims of domestic and sexual violence? Are you an advocacy veteran who needs to sharpen your skills and be re-inspired? Join us for three days of training and networking, where we will discuss best practices in victim advocacy. Training is free to members and scholarships are available on a very limited basis.
WHY: The purpose of this training is to provide victim service professionals with the training and tools needed to assist both domestic and sexual assault victims effectively and sensitively. Through a variety of scenarios and activities, advocates will develop skills in effective advocacy techniques, service provision, safety planning, communication, active listening, economic justice, self-care, and more.
WHERE: The training will take place at the Helena Hotel Downtown (formerly the Holiday Inn) in Helena, located at 22 North Last Chance Gulch.
REGISTRATION: Registration deadline is Tuesday, March 27. If you are applying for a scholarship, registration deadline is Tuesday, March 6.
