Consent

Consent means that at the time of the act, there are physical actions indicating that both partners freely agree and really want to do the same thing. Checking for consent is a process that each person needs to keep doing.

A helpful 3-question checklist, from RAINN, can help determine if consent was given and whether or not it was rape.

  1. Are participants old enough to consent?
  2. Do participants have the capacity to consent?
  3. Did participants agree to take part?
