Purpose: This is the opportunity for members of Region 5 to gather for the day and network with others in your area. At the meeting there will be a training on Motivational Interviewing:
For over 30 years Motivational Interviewing has been a tool utilized by mental health service providers to facilitate behavior change. As a client-centered, collaborative, and non-confrontational approach, it has proved effective across a wide range of topics and settings. This workshop will highlight the basic principles and spirit of MI as well as provide opportunities for participants to practice specific MI techniques.

Presenter: Emily Hansen, MA, LAC-E – Emily is the Coordinator of the Behavioral Health Options program at the University of Montana. She was first trained in Motivational Interviewing as a graduate student and has since gone on to train other graduate student interns in MI as well as utilize MI in her daily counseling work with students mandated to attend the Options program, an alcohol and drug intervention program. She holds her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UM and is in the process of obtaining her Montana professional counseling license and her license of addictions counseling.
Meeting Location: Mountain West Bank located at 3301 Great Northern Avenue, Missoula, MT 59806. NOTE: Please do not park in the front bank parking lot, as that is reserved for bank customers, please park in the street or side of the building.
